March 8, 2018: Highway One

Welcome to another installment of Seeds & Sand, a daily haiku prompt.

For today’s inspiration we will drive Highway 1 on the California Coast. This is the road to Big Sur (Kerouac territory) and Monterey (Steinbeck territory).

The dense fog to the right of the screen covers the ocean in a huge, dense shelf. The hills to the left of the screen are prone to landslides. Occasionally you will see large raptors circling overhead.

Here are my haiku:

nervously watching
the fragile Big Sur hills –
and all that ocean below!

*

fog curls
snaking over the roadway:
i taste salt

What do you think about Highway One?  Please share your Big Sur-inspired haiku here:

Happy Writing!
